January at Clara Luna by Tess

Hola!

January brought new volunteers and some new experiences. Monica came from Canada, Helen came from England, and Nate and Ruth came from the US in the beginning of the month. We started up club de ninos again. They are slow to get back into the routine of coming, but by the end of the month is was back in full swing. We also threw a party because the children finished reading their books. So we played games and they were able to buy prizes with their points. The children love it and we hope it keeps them reading!

Also this month we started the winter course for the kids since they are out of school for the next couple of months. During the winter course they learn drama, art, English and plenty of games every morning during the week. We have been having fun drawing and making comics, making shapes with our bodies and playing charades, and playing duck duck goose and lobo.

This month Nate, Monica and Ruth have been volunteering at the foundation for people with disabilities. They have been working on increasing the number of students with special needs, working with them daily and planning adventures for them around town.

As January came to an end with added four new volunteers- Annette from Swizterland, Katherine and Phil from the US, and Ferdando from Spain. We planned lots of new things with these volunteers for the upcoming month!
