September at CL by Douglas Hickling

It was a wonderful month for Clara Luna, we enjoyed the company of so many

great volunteers from all over the world. We had Catherine from Australia,

Sylvie, Douglas and Daniel from England, Chhavi from India, Sandy from

Germany, Alex from the USA. At our weekly language exchange we had activities

ranging from ‘Who Wants to be Millionaire?’ to ‘Banana grams’, ‘Scrabble’

and ‘Pictionary’, which were all very popular. For Club De Ninos we split the

activity into two time slots, a 45-minute reading period and 45-minutes for craft.

For the latter, we had the kids make coloured paper flowers and play dough. We

also had a number of activities including a housewarming, to celebrate our move

from the beach to our new location, next to drivers syndicate. It was a very fun

night filled with drinks, karaoke and hilarious singing. Thursday evenings soon

became themed and we had ceviche, curry, empanada, and culture nights. We

had a few jobs around the house as well such as painting the fences in the front

of the house, decorating the back gate and even got to build our own compost

bin.
