In August,
volunteers were: Katrin from Switzerland and Richard from England. Both of us
taught English to various groups, sometimes sharing lessons, and other times
teaching on our own.
In club de
niños, in the first part of each session, the children read on their own and
then Paula told them a story, whilst Derek wandered about aimlessly. Finally,
we all worked together on a craft activity. We made fish and jellyfish from
plates, coloured in mandalas and recycled egg boxes into more or less
convincing turtles. Then we really got into our stride with butterfly masks
(very colourful!), toilet roll spacecraft and scary spiders fashioned from
plastic bottles.
The last week was dedicated to a group project to make the letters of Clara Luna and use them to decorate the house.

Intercambio
had some lively sessions despite only small numbers attending. In our first
session, we played “smarties”, a sweet-based activity ( the more you ate, the
more you had to talk) and “animals on the back”, a yes/no question guessing
game.
In the second session we played “truth and lies” and a “taboo” about furniture.
Next we played “new planet”, where we had to justify our remaining on a failing spaceship based on our randomly allocated job (predictably, the clown won), and “bingo”.
Finally, we did a board game activity called "Let's talk about" where we had to talk about different subjects for 1 minute and practiced pretending to be ill whilst our fellow participants gave dubious advice about what we should do.
