Volunteers for Cultural Project

Volunteer Role 1: English Teacher / Cultural Exchange Facilitator
We are looking for a motivated proficient English speaker seeking a volunteer English teaching position. The teacher is expected to teach classes for 2-3 hours a day (from Monday to Friday): one class of children and two class of adults of different levels. Additionally, he or she will be expected to help moderate an interchange between English and Spanish learners, giving original ideas and
managing the group. The teacher needs to arrive at least by 3:00 pm to prepare the classroom and the class activities.
Required Skills English speaker, experience teaching, experience with cultural exchanges (preferred)
Any Language Requirement Fluent English, Spanish is helpful
Commitment Minimum 1 month.

Volunteers Role 2: Library and Reading Corner Attendants

We are looking for motivated Spanish speaking volunteers to maintain our library and reading corner. It is open, Monday - Friday from 3:30 – 6:30 PM. Volunteers need to arrive by 3:00 pm at latest to prepare the reading corner and activities. As a library helper you will read to the children or encourage them to read to you. Part of the job in the library is to teach the children how to turn pages and handle the books carefully. After reading a book the children are also encouraged to draw or write something about the book they’ve read.
Required Skills Motivation and love for kids and reading.
Language Requirement Intermediate Spanish

Volunteer Role 3: Volunteers for the development of different skills.
This is ideal for adult participants who have skills and experience with arts and enjoy working with children. The CdL provides children with the opportunity to develop their imagination and skills through different activities. We are looking for people to develop creative workshops that will stimulate the creativity and talents in children through art, dance, drama, music instructions, education, recreation,
ecology sports and making crafts.

Required Skills Experience and motivation to encourage the children in the points mentioned before.

Location: Puerto Lopez, Ecuador
Café de Lenguas is in Puerto Lopez, a quiet fishing town, with an international tourist crowd. It is a beautiful property, right on the beach. The open air café seats about 20 people, facing the ocean. Clientele: Spanish learners are generally visitors, studying Spanish while on vacation (1 week to 8 weeks.)
